Saturday started with bagels again, and later some excellent coffee from Schachat’s enourmous thermos, winky face. First order of business was dropping off a sspare Glasgow Worldcon volunteer tee shirt I had acquired somehow at the tee shirt swap. This was a great idea: you got tokens for each shirt dropped off, and later after volunteers sort all the items out the room opens as a scheduled item for everyone to redeem their tokens. LAcon V: Day Two
Friday! I had to be up early to do my art show tour (link available for members, I have not watched this because I’m too chicken, but presumably it isn’t so terrible they couldn’t post it). I ended up enjoying myself a great deal doing it, but I went in with some trepidation, for a couple of reasons. Yes, finally and actually the first day of the convention. John and I headed over for breafast with Lori and Kevin to Huckleberry’s, a chain which serves “Southern food with a California twist”. LACon V: Day Minus Two
We landed at LAX Tuesday evening before the convention. The flight was less than half full, so although I did watch all of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms plus two movies, I also was able to stretch out across three empty seats and get a few hours of sleep. Eastercon 2026: Iridescence

Hah, so it turns out even attending virtually, and not especially intensely, the post-convention fog is real. Day Two Virtual Worldcon This was my busiest day for panels. First off was Food and Fantasy, with Amadin Ogbewe, Oluwatomiwa Ajeigbe, Uchechukwu Nwaka. It was a lively discussion covering fantasy, horror, folklore, and sf. This is a perennially entertaining panel topic, since each panel’s specific mix of people always leads to a fresh perspective. One thing I learned this time was about children turning into yams! Day One Virtual Worldcon
The good news is that although the parcel with my art arrived late, Spike and Tom arranged to have Ian Stockdale collect it and bring it down to Seattle! Having generous and resourceful friends is the best part of fandom, truly. So I have six fans hanging in the art show and handful of prints in the print shop, not my best showing every but it is nice to have a presence. Worldcon is next week, I wont be there in person but have a virtual membership and have been enjoying the Discord in the lead up. While it is giving me massive fomo already, it is also lovely to see all the excited chatter – especially the introduction posts from first-time members.
