The idea is a map of thing that appeals to the sff fan in me, and hopefully to others. So certainly any landmarks related to science fiction and fantasy in the arts, genre authors, book and game stores, but also the ocassional adjacent thing. I’ll also link to similar endeavours that encourage exploration at large (like Atlas Obscura) or on a more localized scale (like Barcelona’s Friki Triangle map).
Hopefully this will fill the vague desire to make a fanzine, which I really don’t want to do.
For now I won’t be adding general bookstores, might see if there is an existing map I can link to or integrate in some way. Categorization is partly on vibes. A boardgame shop gets a dice symbol, a boardgame cafe a coffee cup, a comic book shop a little book – but obviously some places sell coffe, comics, and games! What to do? Eh, pick one – I assume if anyone actually uses the map they can click for more info as needed.
