Halloween, etc

We had a Halloween party again this year, cosmic horror themed this time. Almost everyone wore some sort of costume, and as Halloween fell on a Friday this time we had lots of trick-or-treaters to scare. My main project for decorating was an infinity mirror serving as a sort of void/vortex of stars but I had to scale it down because it turns out two mirrors boxed together can get quite heavy! Still, it was fun to try out and hopefully I can expand it next time around.

November has been dark, cold, and rainy so far, but enjoyable all the same. We went to the Greggs/Fenwick collab pub “The Golden Flake” for their quiz night, had a lovely time even though we only came in seventh place. We also went to Lumiere in Durham, possibly the last one unless the council gets its act together apparently. It was an extremely good year, Jony Easterby’s Garden of Shadows, a cool kaleidoscope/infinity mirror by Aaqib, and of course Durham Cathedral hosting several incredible works.

The other big event in early November was Novacon or bonfire night, depending on your inclination. I did not attend, but John did, and came back with tales of beer, fandom, and excellent GOH. I enjoyed pretty lights in the sky, delicious Indian food, and a warm bed by midnight instead.
