Xmas at the Coxon’s
Back from the Coxon family home, where we had a relatively small but still very nice Christmas. We played Sushi Go, got some quality time with Alfie the cat, who is getting cuddly in his old age, and we watched Coco in between the various Xmas meals. There was a Nuñez Zoom, or actually a Whereby, which was quite animated, and George & Kathryn came by for presents and dinner. Memories
I’ve been going through the old posts to clean up links, fortmatting, and even finding the odd missing report, like Silicon 2006, that’s slipped through the cracks. At the same time I’m scanning old family photos, so I’ve experienced a weird whiplash of nostalgia, bouncing between adorable toddler photos and dissolute mid-aughts Bay Area convention shenanigans. In the current timeline I’m getting ready for Norwescon by exploring Airmeet a bit… I think it looks neat? It’ll be interesting to see how it works for the actual event. Xmas everywhere
Aside from a trip to get my passport replaced, which was mildly stressful but also sort of a nice change of pace, its holidays at home for us of course. So I am compensating by watching as many holiday movies as I can this year. Sticking to stuff available on streaming services we already have, but that still offers a whole lot. And lots of it is pretty bad, frankly. On the nice list; Let It Snow, Noelle, A Bad Mom’s Christmas, Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square, Jingle Bell Rocks, The Holiday. Burritos and pizza
With Lockdown 2 in place for November it seemed a bit silly to do a big turkey and trimmings just for us. So I made pumpkin pie, we ordered burritos with the reasoning that they are the American food most likely to give us that replete Thanksgiving feeling and we watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Coxon Christmas
We headed up to Peterborough on Monday, everything went nice and smoothly and the trains were not too busy so we got there in time for dinner. This year was a lower key Coxon Christmas, mainly John’s parents, his aunts, and us two – with guest appearances by George and Kathryn, and by his grandmother on Christmas day. We were also only there through the end of the week, so no panto this year.
