Hugo reading: Novelette

This category didn’t have an obvious standout for me, I’m voting as much on vibes as anything else and I’ve reordered my ballot a few times but currently have “On the Fox Roads” at the top. I like what Nghi Vo does generally, and as much as I enjoy the Singing Hills stories it was really nice to see her doing something different here. It’s a story that starts off at speed and doesn’t let down even at the end, it has several magical elements that I like quite a lot, and does that lingering Vo thing.
